The UAQ Integrated course is a three day course that covers all the necessary components for an operator to apply for their PFAW, as long as you have at least two-hours self-certified flight experience.  It is the first course that can offer the completion of the Flight Assessment without the need to return at a later date, saving you time and money.[/vc_column_text][divider visibility=”hidden” xs_height=”24″ sm_height=”24″ md_height=”24″ lg_height=”24″][vc_column_text margin_top=”short-top” margin_bottom=”short-bottom” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″]Abbreviated Course

The Abbreviated course is a two day course aimed at people who already hold some form of CAA Pilots Licence.  There is no CAA requirement to pass any theory exam if you hold a current CAA licence however by joining Day 2 of the integrated/modular course you will have the option of taking the exam as a knowledge refresher.

Day 1 is a practical one looking at UAV Operations by means of Case Studies, therefore you will need to be conversant with all areas that other candidates will have studied, in particular Air Law and RPAS specific Principles of Flight.  It also goes through flight planning exercises and risk and site assessments.

Day 2 is then saved for the Flight Assessment and this is exactly the same as any of the other courses. It is to be conducted in accordance with the QRH provided by UAVAir or procedures provided by the individual candidate and should last no longer than one hour.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″ align=”default” align_sm=”default” scroll_animation=”fadeInRight” scroll_animation_delay=”0.4″][vc_column_text margin_top=”short-top” margin_bottom=”short-bottom” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″]Modular Course

The CAA require a minimum of two hours, self-certified flight experience prior to taking the Flight Assessment. The UAQ Modular Course has been designed for that case, and follows the same content as the integrated course up to the Flight Assessment.  Should the Candidate not have the required hours, or feel they are not ready to undertake the Flight Test as part of an Integrated Course, they come back and take the assessment at a more suitable time.[/vc_column_text][divider visibility=”hidden” xs_height=”24″ sm_height=”24″ md_height=”24″ lg_height=”24″][vc_column_text margin_top=”short-top” margin_bottom=”short-bottom” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″]Ab-Initio Course

This is aimed at all those who recognise the value of learning to fly the correct way, from the start, treating this as a career investment, not just as a hobby:

  • Those who want to get a job as a drone pilot looking for evidence-based training.
  • Large organisations who will require a common-operating standard from all their pilots.

From the first time you get your drone you will begin to work with a safe, structured methodology with an experienced UAVAir Instructor to develop the right skills and attitude when flying your drone commercially.  In a similar manner to manned aviation, each flight is aimed at bringing you up to our Flight Assessment standard as efficiently as possible.

Once you have reached this standard, you join in with the Integrated course.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row swatch=”swatch-white” text_shadow=”no-shadow” inner_shadow=”no-shadow” width=”padded” overlay_colour=”#000000″ overlay_opacity=”0″ overlay_grid=”0″ background_image_size=”cover” background_image_repeat=”no-repeat” background_position_vertical=”0″ background_image_attachment=”scroll” background_image_parallax=”off” background_image_parallax_start=”0″ background_image_parallax_end=”-80″ color_speed=”2000″ color_duration=”4000″ height=”normal” transparency=”opaque” vertical_alignment=”top”][vc_column width=”1/4″ align=”center” align_sm=”default” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″][vc_column_text]

The Theory exam is open book but all the material you will need to reference to complete the exam is contained in this document.

The Course Study Manual contains all the information required to pass the theory exam section of the course, but during the ground school stage we will go over the important areas and ensure that you are fully prepared for both the Theoretical Exam and the Flight Planning Assessment.

The ground school phase will be facilitated by two instructors, one with a primary background in manned aviation and one from a UAV operational background who is current and working in the industry at the highest levels. This combined experience is unique to UAVAir and ensures you receive the best instruction available to help you gain your UAQ and PFAW.

The emphasis during this stage is practical application through Case Studies and discussion.  We will see how the theoretical knowledge is applied to the real world operations you will be carrying out on a daily basis.

Through a series of Flight Planning exercises we will bring together all the theoretical elements and ensure that a good understanding of how they work ‘in the field’ has been achieved.

The ground school stage culminates at the end of day two with the Theory Exam and the Flight Planning Assessment. It is our objective to have a 100 % pass rate of both these exams and we will do our part to help you achieve the required standard.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Flight Assessment” state=”closed”][vc_column_text margin_top=”short-top” margin_bottom=”short-bottom” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″]As the Flight Planning Assessment has already been completed in Ground School, the focus of the last day is totally on the Flight Assessment. This can be done with reference to the QRH we provide, or candidates can choose to bring their own QRH or Flight Reference Cards should they prefer. Each Candidate will be fully briefed so they know exactly what to expect and all efforts will be made to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere so as to bring out the best performance in each individual. The Flight Assessment should last no longer than one hour.

Upon the successful completion of the Flight Assessment the Candidate will be awarded the UAQ and will have the option to use it as a stand alone qualification to apply to work under a pre-existing Company Operations Manual, or to combine it with their own Operations Manual and Apply for a PFAW.[/vc_column_text][/vc_accordion_tab][vc_accordion_tab title=”Operations Manual” state=”closed”][vc_column_text margin_top=”short-top” margin_bottom=”short-bottom” scroll_animation=”none” scroll_animation_delay=”0″]

As part of the Course UAVAir will provide a Operations Manual Template that the Candidate can use as they see fit. There will be a section, during the second day, that will cover the Operations manual and how to write one. The CAA has stated that it is an essential part of the qualification process that any Company wishing to work under a PFAW must write the Operations manual themselves. UAVAir will help anyone going through this process where required at no further cost.
